Musical artist Drew Millward has created amazing artwork for bands from the Arctic Monkeys to the Foo Fighters. His distinctive illustrative style and restrained colour palette is instantly recognisable.
Drew was born in 1981 in Coventry; he grew up in Bolton, studied and lived in Leeds for many years and now lives in a quarry in the Aire Valley.
See a glimpse into Drew's life and inspiration in this video he made for Leeds Brewery Northern Monk:
Drew likes to draw ‘the old fashioned way’, using pencils, pens and a love of the craft of illustration. He starts off with a pencil sketch, moving on to inking with Rotring Isograph pens, scanning and then colouring and layering in Photoshop. He has exhibited throughout the US, UK, Europe and beyond, as well as creating work for an ever growing international client base.
‘I like to make work that has a final use, be that a poster, a can design, a shirt, a print… anything really, but I like to find a use for the final outcome, otherwise it feels like a frivolous waste of time.
Our first collaboration with Drew, 'Hit the North' wallpaper has been realised in large scale on a real cork background. Featuring industrial architecture punctuated by Drew's trademark skull motifs and the odd black cat, this wall covering creates a completely unique and original focal point.
