We collaborated with Drew Millward, a well respected musical artist, to create ‘Hit the North’ superwide cork wallpaper. The large scale design depicts architecture from the North of England in Drew’s distinctive style featuring his skull, lightbulb and rose motifs.
Drew is well known for the images he has created for many bands from the Foo Fighters to the Queens of the Stone Age as well as for Yorkshire institutions such as the Brudenell Social Club and Bundobust.
Cork is a beautiful natural and sustainable material, grown for centuries without the use of pesticides and fertilisers in UNESCO protected woodland in Portugal, with our wallpaper then being printed locally in England. Highly prized for its sound and heat insulation properties, creating rooms which are naturally warm and quiet, cork is the perfect choice for spaces from bars and restaurants to wine cellars and teenage bedrooms!
The use of cork in interiors was popularised by modernist architects from the 1930's onwards. Its warmth together with its naturally antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties made it the perfect choice for bathrooms and kitchens.
Our paper has been created from real Portuguese cork laminated onto a thick paper backing, making it incredibly strong and easy to hang using conventional adhesive.
The design is 130cm wide and supplied by the running metre.

Prepare wall by removing all traces of dirt, old wallpaper, or loose paint. Do not hang wallcoverings on any wall with a history of damp. Fill any cracks and allow to dry before hanging.
We recommend that walls be ‘lined’ horizontally using a good quality lining paper. Allow this to fully dry.
We recommend the use of a ready mixed adhesive.
Evenly apply the adhesive directly onto the wall using a brush or a short pile emulsion roller, then apply the first section of the wallcovering to the wall. Smooth down with a good quality hanging brush. Apply the paste to the next section of the wall, and apply the section length with the edges overlapped, making sure to match the design. This wallcovering has overdraw on the edges which is an additional 1cm of the design on each side. This acts as an overlap for hanging and can be overlapped, spliced and then the excess removed. Trim excess at the top and bottom of the wall with a sharp decorator’s knife.
