We collaborated with printmaker Alexis Snell, to create ‘How the Leopard got his Spots’ velvet which is now also available as ready made cushions and lampshades.
Alexis works with linocuts, creating strange, angular characters that look as if they’ve just emerged from a fairytale. To authentically recreate the handmade effect of the original design we’ve chosen to keep the irregularity in the print, and a closer look will reveal 18 slightly different leopards climbing through the jungle.
“I like things that are a bit dark and strange and I'm always drawn to a good story. A flea market, a late night drunken conversation, an old advert or a matchbox might get me thinking about a new idea. I love working in lino. I once heard someone say there is no room for hesitation or apology in lino cutting and I think that the fact you have to be brave and just go for it appeals to me." - Alexis Snell
Designed to inject a maximalist dose of creative pandemonium into your interior, this rich velvet can be used for upholstery, curtains or blinds.
